Derek Johnson

Derek Johnson has been a journalist for 25 years and has a wide range of experience in the print and broadcast media.�He has worked on regional newspapers,�freelanced as a print reporter on Fleet Street�titles and written for business and lifestyle magazines. For the past 15 he has worked in television news.

In that time he has worked as a news anchor and roving reporter for a TV news station in Hong Kong; travelling the world covering issues related to China and the Asia-Pacific area. He has reported from the US, Vietnam, Thailand and even from disputed waters off the Japanese coast. On returning to Britain he worked on a freelance basis for the ITV News Channel, GMTV and Sky News before becoming a reporter and later correspondent for ITV Meridian in Kent. He is used to reporting live "from the scene" and in the studio, and�has interviewed everybody from Prime Minister Gordon Brown to Gordon The Gopher.

Derek�has specialised in crime reporting and in historical features, for which he has won�an ITV News award and two Kent Journalist Of The Year feature awards. He lives near Tunbridge Wells.
